Rourkela Police Detect House Burglary Case; One Arrested, Stolen Property Recovered Rourkela, September 30, 2026 (SatyaNewsAlert): Rourkela Police have detected a house burglary case registered at Chhend Police Station and arrested one person in connection with the theft of newly installed brass and steel water taps, fittings and shower sets from a newly constructed house at RDA Colony in Kalinga Vihar. According to police, a complaint was lodged by 60-year-old Ramakanta Swain on September 27, following which Chhend Police registered Case No. 267/2026 and launched an investigation. Acting on credible intelligence, police apprehended Dendu alias Akash Bud (20) for his alleged involvement in the burglary. During interrogation, he reportedly disclosed the name of a person suspected of receiving the stolen property. Based on the information provided, police conducted searches at the house and godown of Ram Muharat Gupta of Dandiapali. The searches led to the recovery of the stolen taps, fittings and shower sets. Police also seized other suspected stolen iron scrap materials. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of other persons and establish the full extent of the alleged theft and recovery.

Fire Safety Inspections Underway at Hotels, Schools and Commercial Establishments in Rourkela Rourkela, September 29, 2026 (SatyaNewsAlert): With high-rise buildings and multi-storey commercial complexes becoming increasingly common in cities, fire safety has emerged as a major concern. While fire safety measures are generally given priority in newly constructed commercial buildings, complaints are often raised about the alleged neglect of such measures in older structures. In view of fire safety concerns, the Odisha Government has directed the Fire Services Department to conduct inspections of various establishments, including hotels, schools and shopping malls, across the state. Janseva Kendra Operator Shot Dead in Keonjhar, Police Launch Probe Keonjhar, September 29, 2026 (SatyaNewsAlert) : Sensation gripped Patana police station area in Keonjhar district after a man, whose wife is a police employee, was allegedly attacked and shot dead by unidentified miscreants. The deceased has been identified as Trilochan Mahanta, who operated a Janseva Kendra in the Kendeipashi area. According to reports, Mahanta had closed his Janseva Kendra on Monday night and was returning to his wife’s government residential quarters, as usual. On the way, some miscreants allegedly intercepted and attacked him with sharp weapons before looting his money. During the incident, Mahanta reportedly managed to call his wife and inform her about the attack. After learning that she had alerted the police, the assailants allegedly attacked him again with sharp weapons and fired three rounds at him. Mahanta sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Dharanidhar Medical College and Hospital in Keonjhar for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries. Patana police have launched an investigation into the incident. Police are examining whether the killing was carried out with an intention to loot him or was the result of previous enmity. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the assailants.
Two Members of Inter-State Cyber Fraud Syndicate Arrested in Rourkela Rourkela, September 29, 2026 (SatyaNewsAlert): Rourkela Police have arrested two alleged members of an inter-state cyber fraud syndicate and seized several documents and financial instruments from their possession. The arrested accused have been identified as Sheikh Aman and Jasraj Singh. Police seized bank passbooks, cheque books, credit cards and other documents from them. According to police, the duo allegedly lured people with promises of financial benefits and employment and opened bank accounts in their names. These accounts were subsequently used as mule accounts for illegal financial transactions and online cyber fraud. During the investigation, police found that fraudulent transactions amounting to approximately Rs 25 lakh had been carried out through the bank accounts. Police further suspect that members of the syndicate were selling or providing these mule accounts to cyber fraudsters operating in Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, who allegedly used them to conduct fraudulent transactions. Following the registration of a case at Bandhamunda Police Station, police launched an investigation and arrested the two accused. Further investigation is underway to identify other members of the syndicate and establish the full extent of the cyber fraud network.
