Janseva Kendra Operator Shot Dead in Keonjhar, Police Launch Probe
Keonjhar, September 29, 2026 (SatyaNewsAlert) : Sensation gripped Patana police station area in Keonjhar district after a man, whose wife is a police employee, was allegedly attacked and shot dead by unidentified miscreants.
The deceased has been identified as Trilochan Mahanta, who operated a Janseva Kendra in the Kendeipashi area.
According to reports, Mahanta had closed his Janseva Kendra on Monday night and was returning to his wife’s government residential quarters, as usual. On the way, some miscreants allegedly intercepted and attacked him with sharp weapons before looting his money.
During the incident, Mahanta reportedly managed to call his wife and inform her about the attack. After learning that she had alerted the police, the assailants allegedly attacked him again with sharp weapons and fired three rounds at him.
Mahanta sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Dharanidhar Medical College and Hospital in Keonjhar for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
Patana police have launched an investigation into the incident. Police are examining whether the killing was carried out with an intention to loot him or was the result of previous enmity. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the assailants.
