Students at Nirma University in Amdavad staged a protest after a video allegedly showing an obscene act by a person near the girls’ hostel surfaced online. Students have alleged that complaints regarding the incident had already been raised, bringing questions over campus safety and the handling of such complaints.
On October 1, a large number of students arrived on campus wearing black and carrying placards as they observed a ‘Black Day’. According to Divya Bhaskar, more than 1,000 students participated in the protest.
Meanwhile, Sola Police have started investigating the viral video and are working to verify the incident and identify the person involved.
