#assam: Kaziranga National Park is set to implement a series of major reforms aimed at improving visitor safety, streamlining safari operations, and strengthening environmental conservation. As announced by Assam’s Forest and Environment Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, tourists will no longer be allowed to carry mobile phones inside the national park. The decision has reportedly been taken in accordance with the Supreme Court’s 2025 directions and is intended to minimise disturbances to wildlife while ensuring a safer experience for visitors.
The new measures also introduce mandatory advance online booking for both elephant and jeep safaris, making the booking process more organised and transparent. In addition, the state government has decided to increase safari operations in Kaziranga for the first time in 12 years, a move expected to improve tourist access while maintaining regulated wildlife tourism. The revamped guidelines reflect the government’s focus on balancing tourism with conservation and sustainable management of one of India’s most iconic national parks.
