45 DAYS OF HUNGER STRIKE — SAVE RCFC JOGINDERNAGAR 🌿
For 45 days, the people of Jogindernagar have been standing peacefully for the future of RCFC Jogindernagar, a centre working for medicinal and aromatic plants under the National Medicinal Plants Board, Ministry of AYUSH.
The proposed relocation of RCFC from Jogindernagar to Nauni, Solan is not just about shifting an office. The centre has been supporting farmers through training, technical guidance, quality-certified planting material, nursery support and assistance related to medicinal plant cultivation.
Its importance goes beyond Jogindernagar. The centre serves the wider Northern Region, including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Around 170 varieties of medicinal plants have been associated with its training and support activities, according to reports.
For Jogindernagar, the concern is also about the loss of an established institution, local opportunities and the economic activity connected with farmers, visitors, workers and related services. For farmers across the region, relocation could mean greater distance from an institution that has provided local training, planting material and technical support. These are among the concerns raised by the people and the RCFC Bachao Sangharsh Samiti.
RCFC is not just a building. It is knowledge, research, farmers’ support and a connection between medicinal plants and rural livelihoods.
🌿 Save RCFC Jogindernagar
🌿 Protect the institution and its regional role
🌿 Let the concerns of farmers and the people be heard
