Workers at Vedant Industries in Amroli, Surat, have gone on strike over their demand for a weekly Sunday holiday. A dispute reportedly arose between workers and the management regarding the weekly day off, following which a large number of workers stopped work and protested. Workers allege that continuous workload and inadequate rest have caused physical and mental stress. Police reached the spot after the protest began, while management held discussions with worker representatives to resolve the issue. Workers have stated that they will not resume work until a proper decision and written assurance regarding the Sunday holiday are provided.

Surat Crime Branch has made a major breakthrough by arresting an accused who had been absconding for 27 years in a 1999 kidnapping and extortion case. The accused, Ramgopal alias Gopal alias Bharat Ramsingh Rathod, was arrested from Morena, Madhya Pradesh based on technical surveillance and intelligence inputs. He was allegedly involved in a kidnapping linked to a land dispute, where a ₹20,000 contract was allegedly given to assault the complainant. The accused had reportedly been avoiding arrest by staying away from Surat for years.

Surat Police raided Bapuji Ni Wadi Farm House based on information about a suspected liquor party. According to ACP Shweta Daniel, 22 people, including 14 men and 8 women, were detained. The group had reportedly gathered to celebrate the birthday of a woman named ridhi Jariwala. Police seized one whisky bottle, five partially filled bottles, nine four-wheelers and 24 mobile phones, with the total seized property valued at around ₹1.67 crore. A case has been registered under the Prohibition Act, and police are investigating where the liquor was sourced from. The farm house owner’s statement will also be recorded.

सूरत पुलिस ने सूचना के आधार पर बापूजी नी वाडी फार्म हाउस में छापेमारी की। ACP श्वेता डेनियल के अनुसार, मौके से 14 युवकों और 8 महिलाओं समेत कुल 22 लोगों को हिरासत में लिया गया। बताया गया कि सभी एक युवती रीढ़ी जरीवाला के जन्मदिन की पार्टी के लिए फार्म हाउस पहुंचे थे। पुलिस ने एक व्हिस्की बोतल, पांच आधी भरी बोतलें, 9 चार पहिया वाहन और 24 मोबाइल फोन समेत करीब ₹1.67 करोड़ का मुद्देमाल जब्त किया। मामले में प्रोहिबिशन एक्ट के तहत केस दर्ज कर जांच शुरू की गई है। शराब कहां से लाई गई थी और फार्म हाउस मालिक की भूमिका को लेकर भी जांच की जा रही है।
