#News | Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate Tata Electronics’ ₹27,000-crore semiconductor assembly and testing facility at Jagiroad in Assam’s Morigaon district, likely in November, CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced during a political rally ifor Bypoll election in Nagaon district.
The facility, developed by Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt Ltd (TSAT), is designed to produce up to 24.8 million semiconductor chips daily once fully operational.
Described as India’s largest semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) facility, the project is expected to generate around 15,000 direct and 11,000–13,000 indirect employment opportunities.
Foundation stone of the project laid back in 2024 by PM Modi, the project marks a significant milestone in Assam’s industrial development and is expected to strengthen India’s semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem and position the Northeast on the global technology map.
